UK’s Largest Sawblade Manufacturer Continues Success With Vollmer Acquired in January 2010, the Vollmer CHD270 is a sharpening machine with 8 CNC-controlled axes for automatic face, top and chip-breaker machining of TCT blades.
The recent addition has enabled us to improve our production flow by now dedicating the new Vollmer CHD270 mainly to servicing repair blades, whilst our original two machine robot loaded cell is conducting all new saw work. The benefits for the company and our customers are vast, giving better surface finish and faster turnaround. Additionally we can develop our own programs for tooth geometry that meet the exact productivity and quality needs of our customer.
The CHD270 can be programmed to machine over 60 individual blades in one set-up, this enables us to run our machines lights-out without operator intervention, creating cost effective blade manufacture. Saws are loaded and programmed at the end of every day, machined overnight and ready for next day delivery. This flexibility underpins the success of our rapid turnaround service, regardless of whether we are machining alternate bevel, triple chip, or special blade geometries.
We can produce new blades with new geometries within 2-3 days of ordering and once in service, the blades can be re-ground to an as-new condition and returned to the customer within 24 hours. This exceptional level of service is credit to our continued investment in improving productivity and quality.
